Me&Thee presents Antje Duvekot & Chris O’Brien

On Sept. 23, one of Boston's top singer-songwriters Antje Duvekot returns to Me&Thee Music with her only local show before leaving on her west coast tour. Antje has won some of the top songwriting awards including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville, Texas "Best New Folk Award" and a Boston Music Award for "Outstanding Folk Act." She has toured internationally including in Scotland, Germany & Denmark. Her song "Merry Go Round" was featured on a Bank of America Super Bowl ad. Antje's music prompted a Boston Globe reviewer to write, her "songs turn fear into resilience and isolation into community." Shoppers can expect to find a variety of winter squash, corn, peaches, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, fresh onions, cabbage, beets, radishes, potatoes, beans, carrots, mushrooms, as well as a wide variety of salad and cooking greens, cut flowers, potted plants and much more. Farms this season are Middle Earth Farm with vegetables. Grant Family Farm will be offering fresh eggs, cut flowers, and vegetables.  Bear Hill Farm will have pork, vegetables, and local fruit. Abbot Public Library schedules Sept. 10 move, details plans for renovation

Abbot Public Library Executive Director Kimberly Grad submitted the following details behind the library's move to the Eveleth School to make way for its multi-million dollar renovation. In preparation for the move to the Eveleth School, 3 Brook Road, Abbot Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. The former elementary will be the library's temporary space during the renovation of its Pleasant Street location. Me&Thee Music announces plans to kick off its 53rd season with Marblehead’s best known musical duo, Mason Daring and Jeanie Stahl, on Friday, Sept. 9. Former Marblehead resident Ina May Wool of NewYork will open the evening, which begins at 8 p.m. Mason and Jeanie have been performing together since the 1970s with a collaboration that spans a broad range of styles, from classic 1930s jazz to contemporary folk to originals. Marblehead lands $140K grant to finance rail trail segment

Late last week, Congressman Seth Moulton and the Essex National Heritage Area announced Marblehead will receive a piece of a recently awarded $1.2 million in federal funding to finance work related to the the town's rail trail. The 3rd annual Marblehead Museum Tag & Treasure will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. - with a rain date for Sunday, Aug. 21. on the Lee Mansion Garden, 161 Washington St. Free admission. Over 3,000 items, including furniture, lighting, jewelry, artwork, LPs, ceramics, household items, books, vintage, collectible, antiques and more. Cash, check, or charge will be accepted. Abbot Public Library website gets biggest redesign in years

For the first time in about two decades, the Abbot Public Library debuted a new website in late July. "The previous website was created about 20 years ago," the library's executive director, Kimberly Grad, told Marblehead News. "The former website was created in the early 2000s and included a lot of outdated material." Its state until recently featured redundancies, multiple layers and duplicated links. Over the last several years, Grad said patrons found navigating library services via the Internet an arduous task. Over the past three months, the town department contracted with Hyphenate -"a creative design agency known for top-notch design, responsive and mobile-ready websites and strategic marketing services" - to build out and redesign the public library's website. “...
