Anne Steere Beattie, 72, formerly of Marblehead, died Aug. 9 at Salem Hospital.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of Frederick S. and Elizabeth G. (Hawley) Beattie. Raised in Marblehead, Beattie graduated from Marblehead High School in 1969 and attended Marian Court College in Swampscott.
Beattie was a longtime waitress, serving for about 50 years at Wardhurst Restaurant in South Peabody. She loved to cook, travel to Kennebunkport, Maine, and dote on her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Nicholson and her husband, Donald of Severna Park, Maryland; brother Dexter “Duke” Beattie and his wife, Maura of Lynn; nieces Debbie and Kathy Nicholson; and nephews Dexter and Douglas Beattie.
