The town’s Water Department will conduct its annual hydrant flushing program March 14 to 19. The flushing will start May 14 at 11 p.m. and will be conducted from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. each day, according to an email from the Water and Sewer Commission.
“It is possible that some properties may experience discolored water early in the morning,” the email reads. “If you should encounter this, please run cold water only in the kitchen sink until the water runs clear (approximately 20 minutes). Please refrain from using the hot water or doing laundry the discoloration is gone.”
Contact the Marblehead Water Department at 781-631-0102 if the problem persists.
The hydrant flushing will begin at the Swampscott and Salem borders and travel to the downtown area.
