Marblehead Museum to host ‘Growing Up in the Shipyard’ opening reception

On Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., the Marblehead Museum will host an opening reception for its newest exhibition, “Growing Up in the Shipyard,” curated by Kristen Nyberg.

The exhibition profiles one of Marblehead’s most interesting neighborhoods, seen through the eyes of the Nybergs, a family of Swedish immigrants who first came to America from 1906 to 1925.  Visitors can follow their story through the 20th century and see how life changed along with the Shipyard.

The museum invites all to share their own memories of the Shipyard and enjoy a night reminiscing with fellow locals. Nyberg will give guided tours of the exhibit, and light food and drink will be served. This reception is free, and registration is not required.

This exhibit is supported in part by a grant from the Marblehead Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
